Students Build Robot for Competition

There are 35 students at Plateau Valley High School in
Collbran that make up a team called S.W.I.F.T. Everyday they arrive at
school with one goal, to build a robot ready for competition, ready to
win. The team is building a robot to compete at the US FIRST Robotics
Regional tournament in San Diego.
The team is the smallest out of
48 competing, the only team from Colorado. Six weeks ago the
competition supplied the team with standard parts, but customized parts
are needed. The robot weighs 135 pounds and is made up of close to 300
hundred parts. This year the object of the game is to pick up
innertubes and put them on a rack.
